Watching it die

One thing you'll be seeing plenty of is the 40 gallon aquascape. There's no decent pictures of it while it was flourishing and lush, but believe us when we say, it once was. Now it's filled with dying crypts and algae, and this is on purpose.

We allowed this system to die over time, by first starving it and then giving algae every reason to grow. Lack of Co2, not using and then overdosing liquid fertilizer, irregular lighting schedule.... We've literally made an effort to crash this tank.

By doing this, we now have plenty of shots of algae and dying plants to work with and give you visual representation of such.

What we plan to do with this.

Profile the types of algae present, and why they are there. This will give us a chance to further the discussion of chemestry and how to optimize/maintain it to prevent algae from taking over.

Explore methods to get rid of the algae. Chemical Solutions, manually removing and natural means by playing with water parameters.

try methods of cleaning up a algae from the glass walls without damaging them. Everyone knows how hard it can be to restore a long used aquarium to brang new condition, and we've found removing algae from the walls is difficult. We'll research and try different techniques.

Use the dying plants as visuals to discuss symptoms of malnutrition in the aquarium.

There's no good time line on when those videos will become available, alot has to be set up first to maintain livestock, room to clean the aquarium, ect, ect. We're already using up alot of free space and outlets with the Liquid Co2 vs Injected Co2 project, so we'll have to manage it carefully.
